"Vine Street arrives at The Basement Door in Hampton, joining musicians like them, youthful, energetic and certainly coloured with talents. All coming from very experienced musical backgrounds, the artists were brought together on the basis of a music project developing into an indie band with a very promising journey ahead of them. After seeing previous bands play, anticipation filled the crowd as they awaited for the last act, feeling as though the night had only just started, the band’s arrival upon stage created quite the motion of cheers and screams. Bringing back 2000s hit song ‘Take Me Out’ by Franz Ferdinand as their opening song with a strong instrumental introduction, the familiarity erupted another wave of reaction, the steady audience engagement evidently proves the band’s understanding of a good night for live music lovers.‘Weekend’, Vine Street’s very first original to be publicly performed became a hit for the evening; by the second half of the chorus, the audience was already singing along. The song’s hook “I’ll only love you for a weekend” had people still singing it down the street after the gig, the melody, lyrics simply can be described as nothing but captivating.Later on into the act, Vine Street continued to play covers, ‘I Kissed a Girl’ (Katy Perry), ‘Zombie’ (The Cranberries) and ‘Freaks’ (Surf Curse), they provided fresh yet authentic sounds to these nostalgic hits to which the crowd unquestionably did not have enough as they reached their last song, all I could hear was the repeated calls for “encores” that the band did not hesitate to play us another round, knowing what live music is all about, they didn’t let the night die out but revived it.Having the honour to be able to speak to the band after their show I was more than intrigued to know what’s coming next for Vine Street. Learning that they are to be recording an EP and releasing it soon (and don’t worry ‘Weekend’ will be on it) they are securing more gigs, watch out on their instagram for updates @vinestreetband and support the band." - Abigail Hitchmough
